Breakbulk and out-of-gauge

When a piece does not fit a standard container, the dimensions and the route decide the plan. We check the cargo details first, then choose the method for the piece and the route, not the rate card.

Scope

What we coordinate

Cargo that does not fit a standard container, planned around its dimensions, its weight and the route it has to travel.

  • Transport method chosen for the piece and the route
  • Lifting points and centre of gravity requested with the cargo details
  • Route, border and permit steps identified before the move
  • Operators contracted per leg and disclosed to you before the move

Before we quote

What to send us

Origin, destination, cargo type, pieces with dimensions and weights, and the ready date.

What helps

  • Packing list or drawings with dimensions and weights
  • Lifting points and centre of gravity, if known
  • Site access at destination and the required delivery window

Approach

How the work runs

Our approach
  1. Assess

Origin, destination, pieces, dimensions, weight and ready date, with drawings if you have them. We reply with a first routing or the questions we need answered.

  2. Plan

Transport method, route, border and permit steps, and schedule, set out before the move.

  3. Coordinate

We contract the operators, coordinate each leg and report to you until the piece is on the ground.

  4. Close out

We confirm delivery on site with you and close the move.

Questions

Common questions

What is the difference between breakbulk and out-of-gauge cargo?
Breakbulk cargo moves as individual pieces rather than in containers. Out-of-gauge cargo exceeds standard container dimensions in length, width or height. Many project pieces are both.
Which cargo details matter most?
Accurate dimensions and weights for every piece, lifting points and centre of gravity where known, and any packing or handling limits. Drawings help.
Do you own trucks, vessels or cranes?
No. TYR Logistics is a non-asset logistics management company. Licensed operators and named lines carry and lift the cargo. We plan the move, contract each operator and disclose them to you before the move.
